Before graduating from Newberry College as an H. Lee Atwater Endowed Scholar for Political Science, and President of his fraternity, Michael began an early career in lobbying and public relations.

Michael’s early work with Greenville, SC-based Brett Public Relations set him on the fast track in the South Carolina governmental affairs arena. For over 15 years, Michael has lobbied and consulted clients before the South Carolina General Assembly, Regulatory Agencies, and the Governor’s Office.

Michael’s service as the chief lobbyist for the South Carolina Association for Justice, during some it’s toughest legislative battles, has earned him the respect of plaintiff's lawyers, legislators, both Democrats and Republicans, and colleagues around the state. It has also given him widespread knowledge of the plaintiff’s bar and the challenges they face. Michael still consults regularly with the Association on their legislative initiatives and policy positions.

Michael also serves on the Scholarship Committee for Kids’ Chance of South Carolina, Inc., a group committed to providing scholarships to dependents of South Carolina workers who have been seriously injured or killed on the job. Michael also served on the Newberry College Athletic Club Board of Advisors until his term expired in June 2011.

Michael’s extensive skills, expertise in negotiation, and talent to look beyond the present make him a valuable asset to the Forge team, and ensure our clients specific needs are represented above all.
